Plumping the skin
Fillers can be used almost anywhere in the face and lips to replace lost volume with age, to contour, or to boost lip volume. The filler is made of hyaluronic acid, the naturally occurring hydrating substance in the skin. As we age we produce less of this substance, which is why our lips get thinner and our cheeks lose definition as we get older.
Dr Kathryn will discuss your requirements with you and treat you safely and comfortably to achieve the effect you desire, whether that be a subtle enhancement or a more dramatic effect.
Some of the currently available treatments include:
Lip fillers - these can be used to redress the balance between the upper and lower lip, or any asymmetry that may be present, or to simply plump and increase the lip size.
Cheek fillers - these augment the cheeks to reverse the signs of ageing and replace definition and volume, the can have a very effective lift on the rest of the face, reducing the appearance of other wrinkles.
Marionette lines / down-turned smile - filler applied either side of the lower corners of the mouth which smooth and raise deep lines which can give the appearance of a down-turned smile when the face is at rest.
Jaw and chin - filler placed along a jawline and chin can help improve the appearance of jowls, and can re-frame the face, giving a more attractive overall appearance.
An anaesthetic cream will be used for the procedure which will make it as comfortable as possible. The treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes, and the results will be instant. There can be some mild swelling or redness following the procedure but it should subside shortly after.
